Originally from the area, Anna Wollenschlager went away to Eastern Illinois University, where she received her BFA, before returning to ISU to  pursue an MFA in painting. Since completing her graduate studies, Wollenschlager has lived and worked in Bloomington. She has taught for ISU and has been an instructor at MCAC since fall of 2002, teaching both drawing and painting classes for adults.

Emerging Illinois Artists features works by MFA students currently enrolled in Illinois universities. The juror, Staci Boris, Associate Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, selected 29 works by 24 artists for the exhibition, as well as the four award winners.

The Juror’s Choice award ($500 plus a future solo exhibition in the MCAC’s Armstrong Gallery) was presented to Yasemin Kackar, Northern Illinois University. Three merit awards ($200 each) were presented to Angela Barker, Illinois State University, Dawn Roe, Illinois State University, and Terence Hannum, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
